Seen above Greg Wilson and coaches along with the 14 members of the current Indonesian Weightlifting Team.

The team has been awarded 7 qualification places for the Rio Olympic Games to be held in August 2016 - 5 male and 2 females.  This is a record for the Indonesian Weightlifting Team and was achieved through excellent team results at the 2014 and 2015 World Weightlifting Championships .

14weightlifting athletes are training hard in Senayan, Jakarta at the moment trying to be selected as one of the lucky 7 to represent Indonesia at the Rio Olympic Games.  Ever since the Sydney Olympic Games in 2000, Indonesian weightlifting has always won at least 1 weightlifting medal at the Olympic Games.  At the London Olympics Triyatno won the Silver medal in the 69 kg class with a total lift of 333 kg and Eko Yuli Irawan won the Bronze medal in the 62 kg class with a total lift of 317 kg.

Both of these athletes will be action again at the Rio Olympics and hoping to win a 3rd Olympic medal, which has never been done previously by any Indonesian athlete in any sport.  So this would be new history for Indonesia.

Another strong contender for Olympic Glory is the female weightlifting athlete Sri Wahyuni a 21 year old 48 kg lifter who recently won the world junior championships and can lift over 100 kg above her head.  Which is over 2 times her own bodyweight.  A remarkably impressive young lady.

The team has a number of coaches assisting their development and our very own Dr Greg Wilson (picture in orange in the centre) does the specialized strength and conditioning training for the team for 2 hours every Wednesday and Saturday morning in their National Weightlifting Training Centre in the Senayan Stadium.
