The RIO Club “a Private Investment Club”

The Real Investment Opportunities Club (The RIO Club) is a private Investment Club founded in February 1995. The Club membership is only available to Expatriates (predominantly UK nationals living and or working in South East Asia). Membership is by invite only and is strictly limited, the club has from inception grown through recommendation only (a friends of friends club). Membership is not available to the general public. The Club does not advertise or promote its self, referral activity is entirely internal.

One of the founding members of the Club is financial author who was among the first in the world to have accurately predicted the financial crisis of 2008 which is still affecting markets today. Importantly as part of the RIO group of companies we offer a dedicated general administration service.

Investment Procedure

Having been referred by an existing member and decided to invest in one of the clubs investments you automatically become a member. However there is a compliance protocol which includes KYC and Anti Money laundering checks such checks must be precisely adhered to prior to any investment being received.

Vision

RIO’s vision is to keep our club very private, with no information on who is or is not a member passed to any third party. The investments are to be unique and distinctive in an ever competitive world.
 
The club aims to exceed the expectations for our membership. RIO remains focused on monitoring and evaluating worldwide events, and may circulate reports these reports are for private member use only not for general circulation outside our closed group.  The author is acting solely in a personal capacity as a member of the club. The reports circulated to membership are confidential and should not be viewed as investment advice and or recommendation to invest. Members make their own choice when and what to invest in.

Historic News

1997 - Having predicted capital growth in the UK property market, RIO Property group is incorporated to acquire commercial property.

1998 - First full colour newsletter, the RIO News. Target membership set to facilitate the incorporation of an investment company in the BVI. It is planned to offer direct investment opportunities to the membership. This will reduce the cost associated with selling third party investment packaged products.

1999 - New club secretary employed.

2001 - Club membership reaches initial target.

2002 - RIO International Investments Limited is incorporated. RIO starts to design it's own investment products to be submitted for BVI licensing.

2003 - RIO obtained its first Government licensed Private Mutual Fund in the BVI.

June 2004 -RIO obtains it's second BVI Government licensed Private Mutual Fund. New general administration offices opened in the Isle of Man.

July 2005 - Our 10th anniversary issue of The RIO Club newsletter (10 Years of Success) went to print in July 2005.

December 2006 - RIO obtained it's first Professional investors Licensed mutual Fund.

2007 - Target membership fulfilled. Due to our forecast of a coming financial crisis and the fact that membership quota is already full, no new membership referrals are being accepted pending planned administration systems review.

2010 - The RIO Club due to demand has started to accept members referrals once again. We will also be contacting the referrals which members submitted throughout the membership closure period.

2012 - The RIO Club designed and developed reporting software in-house for the RIO Professional Investors Fund.

2015 - Club celebrates its 20th anniversary year.

2017 - Due to increasing cost and regulatory complexity we changed our business model and decided to close our BVI mutual funds. Investments are now conducted on a private, member - direct basis. We still enforce and complying with AML and KYC requirements. Membership is closed to new applicants.

2019 - Members voted and agreed to establishing RIO 888 - a high risk investment in Virgin Galactic stock, a new age space tourism business.
